Customer-Supplied Artwork Specifications

Image Quality
To create the best looking image on your T-Shirt you will need to submit the best quality artwork. The image should be a crisp black and white copy from a laser printer or a high quality inkjet printer. Gradients, therefore, be created into half tone dots. The image should also be printed to the size at which it will appear on the shirt. Images for adult shirts should not be any larger than 14” x 16”. Youth shirts should be no larger than 12” x 12”. Your final black and white print outs should be delivered to Phoenix in good condition, free of creases and wrinkles to ensure quality printing on your garments.

Image Color
In the screen-printing process black and white images are used to reproduce the image on your t-shirt. Each ink color will require a separate screen. A one-color image requires only one screen. A four-color image requires four screens. Therefore, you must supply us with the correct color separations for each of those screens. If you were to create a four-color smiley face design like the one below you would have to break the image into 4 images. One for the yellow fill, one for blue eyes, one for a red tongue, and one of the black outlines.

You also need to take in account the color of the shirt. If this design were not printed on a white shirt, white would need to be added for the eyes, making this a five-color design. The white screen should also be used as an under base for all other light colors, so that they will appear more brilliant.

Registration Marks (Required)
Registration marks are very important. They allow us to line up the color separations correctly and give us an idea of centering and placement. Even if your design only has one color, please include a center mark of some kind. This ensures accurate placement of your design.

Hand Drawn Designs
One of our strengths is printing hand drawn designs while maintaining the integrity and detail of the creation. You should provide us with a clean, detailed copy of your drawing with very dark lines. Pencil images are not dark enough and must be re-drawn in black ink before they can be used.

Digital Images
We can handle some digital imagery to create our designs, but we prefer crisp black and white printouts. We use Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and Illustrator 9.0 as well as Freehand 9.0, Corel Draw (cdr) and Arts and Letters (ged). We suggest an image quality of no less than 300dpi (tif), but vector-based line art (eps) would be best. All fonts used must be converted into outlines or paths, or the font will need to be included with your file. Art charges will still apply to digital images even if they comply with our art specifications because they still must be manipulated and printed out in high quality before they can be used.

If you have any questions or do not understand any of the terms used above, feel free to email us at sales@teletee.com or call us toll free at 1-866-286-4586. Or better yet, let our design specialists create your artwork for you. For a small fee you can bypass this headache and rely on us to create the perfect t-shirt.
